In this lecture\, Prof. Armitage will explore both the scientific and historical significance of the Ising model\, highlighting recent experimental advances in the material CoNb₂O₆ and demonstrating how terahertz (THz) spectroscopy provides unique insight into its rich quantum behavior. \nProf. Armitage is a leading experimental physicist whose research focuses on quantum materials\, superconductivity\, and quantum magnetism.
